THE LOLLY/JAY INTRIGUING LOVE STORY:
HOW I MET JAY
My 1st encounter with Jay was in Feb 2010 but it turned out he had known me before that day. Jay had come to my house in July the year before with his friend Anthony to drop off invites Anthony had designed for my birthday. I must say, from my recollection of that evening I was not at my best, but Jay managed to make a great story of it, as I am sure you will read from his telling.
In Feb 2010, we then met again at a fundraising dinner where we were both performing with separate groups. I knew all members of the group except him. “Who’s the new face” I wondered. Regina, a friend of mine from the group, then formally introduced us and we said our “hellos” and “how do you dos”. He was quite quiet and I being the chatterbox that I am, tried to make conversation, but all he gave were one sentence answers to questions asked. I took no offense, assuming he was just a shy guy and carried on with my evening as normal. It was only at the end of the event, when there were just a few of us left in the hall, that he decided to divulge our actual first meeting. We had a good laugh about it, I was slightly embarrassed, then we said our goodbyes and parted ways.
A couple of months went by and then came the preparation for the First edition of Nigerian Carnival Ireland and the search for volunteers. Till this day, we debate on who added who, but for now I’ll say we added each other on Facebook and started discussing how he could become a volunteer. Over time our conversations diverted. We started to get to know each other and fast became really good friends.
I FOUND MYSELF TALKING TO HIM ON A REGULAR BASIS AND IT BECAME VERY EASY TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT VIRTUALLY ANYTHING. I WAS IN DENIAL FOR A WHILE AS TO HOW I REALLY FELT ABOUT HIM, TELLING MYSELF AND OTHERS THAT WE WERE JUST FRIENDS AND NOTHING MORE. BUT IT GOT TO A POINT WHERE I COULDN’T KID MYSELF ANYMORE AND WHEN HE ASKED ME OUT OFFICIALLY ON 25TH OCT 2010, I WAS ALREADY VERY MUCH IN LOVE
Days became weeks and weeks months and here we are over 5 years later. I have discovered so much about myself with Jay. No one gets me like he does and I feel so secure with him. He’s been a huge source of support and motivation for me and I’m so grateful to God for sending me such an amazing man.
Jay is without a doubt the man for me. We’ve been through so much together in the past few years, growing stronger and stronger and with each passing day falling in love with him all over again. If I had to choose again it will and always be My Jay.
HOW I MET AD
YOU SEE, THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT SIDES DEPENDING ON WHO YOU ASK. I HAVE MY OWN STORY WHICH IS THE REAL STORY AND AD HAS HER OWN WHICH IS A 419 ONE (YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN). BUT ONE THING WE BOTH AGREE ON IS THAT GOD HAS BROUGHT US TOGETHER AND HE HAS DONE ALL THE HARD WORK TO MAKE THIS A SMOOTH JOURNEY FOR US.
The first time I saw AD was when her family was preparing for her sweet 16. That night myself and my friend Anthony, who happens to be a graphics designer, went to the Adenuga house to drop AD’s birthday invites to her dad. The funny thing was, I actually didn’t want to go with Anthony in the first place but he forced me too, not knowing that it would be an opportunity for me to get a quick short look at my other half. So, on that memorable night when we got to the house, the dad had just arrived from Nigeria where he was on location shooting a movie.
Door bell rings :- Ding Dong,
Mr Adenuga:- Ahh Anthony, bawoni? Sho wa pa (How are you, are you okay?). Wole, wole, wole
Anthony :- Evening sir. How was your journey? This is Juwon my friend
ME :- Good day sir,
Mr Adenuga:- Pele dear. Sho wa ok? Sit down.
Anthony :- Here are the invites for Loretta birthday party.
Mr Adenuga :- Ok, it’s nice oh. Ose, good, very good.. Loretta
Loretta :- Sir !!! (Loretta comes running down from the kitchen where she was frying fish and knelt down to great me..lol)
Mr Adenuga : – Bring maltina and fried fish for Anthony and Juwon
Anthony :- It’s ok sir, we just came down quick we are still going somewhere..
Mr Adenuga :- Ehh, take the maltina with you guys then..
Us :- Ok no problem. Thank you sir, bye.
Mr Adenuga :- Make sure you guys come to the party oh
Us:- Yes sir no problem (The day came and we didn’t go)
That night was the first night I saw the young lady, the only “KOKO” that rocks the KOKOLETT, the only one that knelt down to great me without knowing what was coming.
Since that night we never spoke or saw each other until my ex- band came to play at one of the events hosted by her parents and we all sat down on the table chatting. I remembered who she was but she didn’t remember me, so I didn’t say anything. I was just observing like every man would.
Her friend Regina was a member of my band. I sat beside her chatting and she introduced us to each other. From there on, we started talking on and off. Then when the 1st Nigerian Carnival Ireland was about to begin in 2010, her folks would regularly go to Anthony’s house where I was at the time, to finalize artworks, flyers, website, etc for the carnival. On such occasions, AD would ask me if her folks were at Anthony’s house, when they got there, and when they left. I would gladly volunteer those information and that got us talking regularly.
She then added me on Facebook, took my phone number because she was looking for volunteers to help during the Carnival and from telephone calls we started Skype conversations and Facebook chats.
Guys, that’s how I met my paddy oh, friend of life, the only person that looks at me with one kind eye.. LOL
