KOREDE BELLO CELEBRATES HIS 5TH BIRTHDAY AT DOWN SYNDROME HOME!
Here is a great story from the incredible team behind the Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria (DSFN). On Monday, February 29, 2016, “talented Mavin act, Korede Bello turned 20 years old, with him celebrating just his 5th birthday due to being born on a leap day. In celebration, the ‘Godwin’ singer visited the Down Syndrome Foundation of Nigeria where he spent part of the day with kids who live with the rare
“Explaining why he decided to spend his day with the kids, Korede took to his Instagram account to share what motivated the visit – which also occurred four years ago when he last celebrated his birthday…
“He shared his thoughts on his Instagram page and wrote: ‘So I decided to spend #Koreday with the Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria. I remember celebrating my birthday with them four years ago and someone asked me, why them? Well! We share something in common. I have an extra day and they have an extra chromosome (that’s why they are the way they are) #SpecialChildren #DownSyndrome.'”
Korede is currently in Sidney, Australia on a playing visit, if his latest tweet is anything to stand on: “Sydney tonight ❤️ 🇦🇺 #BelloversAustralia #MungoParkbellovergram.com/cuP“.
…AND HERE COMES THEIR OWN SUPER-STORY!
In a related development, DSFN also delved into the Nigerian movie world late last year to powerfully explain to Nigerians the reality and progress of people living with Down Syndrome.
“We recently collaborated with Wale Adenuga Productions, to create a special (first of its kind in Nigeria) season of Superstory Drama Series titled ‘Godwin’.
“Godwin is a unique drama about a young man (Godwin) with Down syndrome, whose search for love and acceptance exposes him to some extremely sinister individuals who would stop at nothing to get his inheritance. He, of course, conquers with his God-given talents and the help of a good few.
“The character Godwin is played by Solomon Omere, a 25year old man living with Down syndrome, from Edo state and a student of Down syndrome Foundation Nigeria. The drama series titled ‘GODWIN’ will create awareness, exposure and inspire people with Down syndrome and show the world that when you judge based on a diagnosis you miss out on their abilities, beauty and uniqueness. (It shall prove) a point to every individual that disability does not define a person, therefore watch out for Superstory titled ‘GODWIN’ on NTA, STV, WAPTV, GALAXY and LTV. The series will also feature popular acts live Zack Orji, Jide Kosoko, Chinyere Wilfred, and Kehinde Bankole (AMVCA actress of the year 2015) to mention a few. The Drama will be shown on TV Stations across Nigeria for a minimum of 13 weeks.”
